Eastern Cape High Court

There are four High Courts in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa, all of which bear the name Eastern Cape High Court. Each court has jurisdiction over part of the province.

• The Eastern Cape High Court, Grahamstown has jurisdiction over all of the province except for the former Transkei and Ciskei.
• The Eastern Cape High Court, Mthatha has jurisdiction over the former Transkei.
• The Eastern Cape High Court, Bhisho has jurisdiction over the former Ciskei.
• The Eastern Cape High Court, Port Elizabeth has jurisdiction (concurrently with the Grahamstown court) over the city of Port Elizabeth and the surrounding districts.

The Superior Courts Bill, presently before Parliament, will reorganise these courts into a single Eastern Cape Division with its primary seat at Grahamstown and local seats at the other cities.
